AN AMBITIOUS schoolgirl wrote her debut novel in just ten days...at the tender age of 12!
Pamela Shine put pen to paper and turned her creative thoughts into a magical book for her peers.
Now it is set to go on sale at Waterstones. Aimed at eight to 12-year-olds, Red Flame: Wizards’ School is the story of a 17-year-old female wizard who joins Red Flame school.
The novel focuses on the relationship she forms with a set of twins, the events which occur in the school and the different magical powers she possesses.
Pamela of Hinguar Street, Shoebury , said: “I imagine a lot of stuff. I just wanted to write down everything I have in my head. It didn’t really take me long, because once I started I didn’t want to stop.
“When the draft copy of the book first came through the postbox I was so excited.”
Pamela started writing when mum Gillian, 42, took her computer games off her because she was concerned about the time she was spending in front of a screen.
The youngster is now well on her way to completing a sequel, but admits it is harder the second time around.
Proud Gillian said: “The most amazing thing about her first book was how quickly she wrote it. Professional authors often take years!”
l Red Flame: Wizards’ School, published by Fast-print, is set to go on sale in Waterstones, Southend High Street , on September 9. Pamela is doing a book signing on the same day between 1pm and 3pm.
