Echo reporter Jackie McMillan has spoken to Essex County Councillor Stephen Castle ahead of the event. He spoke of his pride and excitement that the Games were finally in Hadleigh.

The competition takes place between 12.30pm and 2pm but higher than usual traffic is expected in and around the site for two and a half hours before the event.

Agreed, apart from the ticket price fiasco! (i.e. pay £45 or pay £20 - it gets you exactly the same and you're told (if you ask) that you will have to apply to the mighty LOCOG for a refund)

Would have liked a few more water taps too, come to think of it. Overall it was extremely well-organised though.

Well done to Annie Last and the rest of the riders. Their levels of stamina don't seem possible!
