Motorcyclist taken to hospital with broken leg

A MAN was taken to hospital with a broken leg after a serious crash in Southend.

The accident happened in Baxter Avenue just after 4pm on Friday.

The motorcyclist was riding a 1100 Yamaha Virago and he was in collision head on with a Ford Mondeo.

The man, who was believed to be in his forties, was thrown over the top of the car and landed in the road.

Two fire crews from Southend attended to make sure the scene was safe and removed the car battery in case of a fire.

Station officer Steve Parker said the injured man was very brave despite his serious injury and was taken to Southend Hospital.

Just like to say i love the way the echo worded this article making it sound like it was the motorcyclists fault. In actual fact the car driver was at fault and has admitted so to the police. The motorcyclist was riding along Baxter avenue when the car pulled out of a car park into the side of the motorbike. Not just breaking the bikers leg in one place, but shattering it as well as shattering his foot and knee also. He then had to wait a few agonizing hours for the surgeons to decided if they were going to amputate his leg. He is a local business man and father of a early teenage boy, and is now looking at about 4 months in hospital, with life changing injuries. i do hope this article can be re-written to give the correct facts as not all motorcyclist are automatically at fault when an accident occurs. And yes i do know the motorcyclist concerned.

Thank you janeagain for correcting the echo. We as his partner son and parents didn't need this false story written. Our son was travelling at 25 mph and the car came out of a car park and hit his left leg, just shows you do not have to be speeding to do that amount of damege. We would like to thank the hospital the paramedics, doctors, nurses for all their wonderful care already 2 ops more to go so long job in hospital for 4-6 weeks a year to torecover.with help from family friends and his wonerful staff he is a stong lad and will make it.also thank you everyone for your concern.
