Man taken to hospital after car hits lamp post in Westcliff

A MAN was taken to hospital after the car he was in ended up on its side after hitting road signs and a lamp post.
The smash happened at 11.21am on Saturday on the London-bound carriageway of the A127 near the junction of Princes Avenue and Somerton Avenue in Westcliff .
An Essex Police spokesman said: “The inside lane was closed due to part of a road sign hanging in a tree. The accident did not involve any other vehicles. the grey Audi A4 ended up on its side by a lorry. The driver was taken to hospital and the fire brigade attended. The road was re-opened shortly afterwards.”
An Essex Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to an accident involving one vehicle which had over turned. One person was trapped and crews worked with paramedics to release the casualty. Crews used two sets of cutting equipment to release the casualty by 12:10pm.
