Sex attack in Southend

A WOMAN has reported to police that she was sexually assaulted at a house in Southend.

The 32-year-old told officers the attack happened in the early hours of Sunday September 2.

It is then believed that the woman was involved in an altercation in Ambleside Drive and the surrounding roads at about 8am before two people came to her aid.

The victim was then helped onto the platform of the Southend East train station and she travelled to London, where she then reported the earlier sexual assault to police.

A 26-year-old man from Southend was arrested yesterday evening.

The witness police are seeking, a woman with blonde hair, is thought to be a volunteer helper for the Paralympics and she helped the victim onto the platform. Another person, a man with a bald head, is also sought as a witness as he reported to station staff that he had seen an altercation outside the station.

These witnesses and any others are asked to contact the Sexual Offences investigation team at Rayleigh on 101.
