Drug smuggler caught at Southend Airport

A DRUG smuggler has been caught attempting to bring £1,600 of cocaine through Southend Airport.

Lloyd Slade, 26, of Cobham Road, Southend, was stopped by Border Force officers at Southend Airport shortly after 6.30pm on Thursday August 30 when he arrived on a flight from Amsterdam.

He was questioned at passport control and he was arrested after officers suspected he had swallowed drugs.

An X-ray scan revealed about 40gs of the Class A drug in his system.

Slade was charged with drug smuggling and admitted the offence at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on Saturday September 1

He was bailed and will be sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on 11 October.
