Woman robbed at knife-point outside church

A WOMAN was robbed at knife-point outside a church.

The incident happened outside the Ferndale Baptist Church, in North Avenue, Southend, at about 9am on Sunday.

She was approached by a man asking if she had a light, when she said no, he produced a knife and demanded she hand him her silver mountain bike.

The man is described as white, aged late 20s to early 30s, skinny , with bushy eyebrows and a lazy right eye.

He was wearing baggy clothing; a light grey dirty hoodie top, dark Adidas trousers with three white lines down either leg, which were tucked into black builders boots which had plaster on the left toe cap.

The man had distinctive lumps on his face, including a lump over his right eye, lump on his right cheek and a lump on his left jaw line.

The bike is described as a silver Townsend, Team pro mountain bike.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Andy Copley at Southend police station on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Have 3 men break into your home at night, fear for your life, take action and get arrested and in Police custody for over 36 hours.

The lady should be commended for her presence of mind, being so observant and giving such a detailed description of the thief, including the plaster on the left toecap of his boots. Those who know him must reveal his identity to the Police..
