Fireighters tackle blaze in loft of Southend home

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Southend home to tackle a fire in the loft.

Two crews from Southend fire station spent an hour putting out the blaze in Oakleigh Avenue at around 12:20am on Saturday.

Officers reported the loft of the terraced house was well alight upon approval and around 30 per cent of the first floor was filled with smoke.

A fire investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the incident.

Sounds like the cost cutting measures are being stringently applied and fires now have to be approved before they're extinguished.
