Passengers at Gatwick enjoy Southend's Rossi ice cream Passengers at Gatwick enjoy Southend's Rossi ice cream

ENJOYING a Rossi’s ice cream on Southend seafront is a summer tradition but passengers heading to far-flung destinations this year started their holidays with the treat.

The iconic firm was chosen by British Airways to supply ice cream for 50,000 passengers at Gatwick’s North Terminal for a fortnight during August.

Colin Gray, Managing Director of Rossi Ice Cream, said airline wanted a patriotic theme which also reflected the famous design of the planes’ tail fins.

He said: “They served our special celebration ice cream in red, white and blue, (vanilla with strawberry and blueberry ripples) plus other flavours to replicate British Airways’ corporate colours.”

Colin said he was proud to be asked by one of Britain’s leading brands to supply his product to them and says that some of the country’s biggest names have followed BA’s lead.

He added: “Rossi ice cream has been enjoyed by bands, artists and VIPs appearing at several big music festivals as part of their backstage refreshments. Also a number of celebrities and Harrods’ key customers have recently enjoyed our ice cream at their parties and events.”

To get them in the holiday mood, customers were offered Rossi ice creams as a summer send-off.

Colm Lacy, British Airways’ head of commercial at Gatwick, said: “It was all good fun. We simply wanted to get people excited for their holidays and thought this was an ideal way of celebrating with them.”

Paul Fitch, Gatwick Airport’s head of terminal operations, added: “At Gatwick we aim to treat every passenger as our guest, helping to make their journey a positively memorable one, which is why we thought what better way to enhance that holiday spirit this summer than by giving our passengers ice cream.”

OMG STOP PRESS: JAYMAN MAKES POSITIVE COMMENT ABOUT SOUTHED!

The population of Southend on Sea were in shock today after prolific echo poster, Southend hater and council worker known as Jayman actually made a possitive remark about a Southend sucsess.

Known for his pure hatred for anything linked to Southend Airport but supporting the Thames Estuary airport proposals that would see the whole scale destruction of the wildlife haven of the Thames Estuary and the Southend-on-Sea as a visitor destination.

He/she/shim is bound to back the latest four runway proposal, the third such scheme proposed.

The Gensler proposal is for a floating airport off Shoebury with up to six runways being flaoted out or removed as demand increases or decreses, the airport would be serviced by rail, ferry and jetfoil’, Gensler’s proposed London Britannia Airport.

Natrally Bonkers Boris is backing the plan as is Vince Cable the Lib Dem who is against airport expantion anywhere near him...

totally off topic to the above story.

the 'latest' (INTERNATIONAL) development company wants to develop a 60 billion pound airport in the Thames estuary that will create (THOUSANDS) of (JOBS) and (MASSIVELY) kick start the (NATIONAL) economy.

just think of how many 99's rossi's could sell with all the (INTERNATIONAL) passengers coming through a properly (REDEVELOPED) Southend transport system.

im sure an (INTERNATIONAL) development company with a prestigious construction portfolio will ensure a project is (VIABLE) prior to proposing a scheme of this nature.

back to topic

well done rossi's

So jayman answer these questions, (bet you never will)

1) What would you do if someone in your family got a job at Southend Airport?

2) What airport(s) do you have you flown from for holidays?

3) Are you going for compo for house prices?

You are not the only one to fight for this country,

yes it's about a Southend ice cream but it is at an AIRPORT.

Can't you answer them, don't you want to upset someone in your family who works at Southend Airport then.
