Man charged following rape in Southend alleyway

A MAN has been charged following an alleged rape in an alleyway in Southend.

Daniel Eyre, 18, of Blyth Avenue, Shoebury has been charged with rape after police were called at 2am on Saturday following reports a young woman had been raped in an alleyway connecting Clarence Street to Alexander Street.

Eyre is due to appear before Southend Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday).

Police believe there are witnesses to the incident who have not come forward. They are urged to contact the sexual offences investigation team at Rayleigh on 101.
