Combine harvester and trees catch fire in Ramsden Bellhouse

FIRE crews tackled a blaze on a farm after a combine harvester caught light.

Firefighters from Billericay and Basildon were called to Ramsden Park Road, in Ramsden Bellhouse, just before 1.30pm today where the machine and row of trees were on fire.

Paul Chipperfield, station officer at Basildon, said the blaze was an accident.

“The farmer was trying to restart the engine and there was some kind of fault with the electrics,” he said.

“We were there for quite a while because access was difficult and it was quite a large machine.”

No one was hurt and the flames were put out just after 3pm.
