Southend lifeboat is the busiest in the country

SOUTHEND has been named the busiest coastal station in the UK and Ireland.
Southend's lifeboat was launched 71 times between 1 June and August 31 - an increase of 40 per cent compared to 2011.

The RNLI said despite the wet weather, the East bucked the national decrease.
The charity said across the UK and Ireland, launches were down slightly from 3,633 in 2011 to 3,575 in the summer.

A spokeswoman said there was "nothing conclusive" as to why the figures in the East were higher, but said the service was busiest during the hot weekend of August 18 and 19.

They are the REAL heros, who we should all look up to, they volunteer to risk their lives to save those in peril, to save those in dnager, to aid those in need. It is these guys and girls that are admirable and not the "celebrity" of the "reality" show not the over paid footballers and not the warbling "pop" starts that are manufactured pap.

The real heros the Police, the Fire Bregade, the Ambulance crew, the Armed Forces, Doctors, Nurses, the RNLI those that protect us the public with out expecting to be lorded for their work, they just get on and do it.
