Sadlers Farm lane closure starts tonight (From Echo)

Hadleigh Farm hosted the Olympics for 2 days. Quite why Birse needed a month off when already running months late is beyond me.

As the works were due for completion in Spring, and it is now Autumn, I wonder if we will receive an official apology and explanation from either Birse or Essex CC. Better still would be to ensure that the penalty clauses that any sensible administration would have included are invoked so the tax payer gets some of his hard-earned back.

Anyone know why the road over the bridge to Benfleet was closed on Saturday afternoon/evening? Lots of emergency vehicles on the bridge itself. I wonder if someone ignored the 50 mph speed limit?

At least there is a slim chance that ECC will have completed the works by Spring 2013 - only a year late!

Of course we will still have three major issues with the layout.

The lane issue joining from the A1245 slip to the A130 southbound where the lane vanishes for about 100 yards.

The queues for anyone continuing along the A13 from Pitsea to Benfleet, where a very small second lane rarely gets used as the traffic in the right lane blocks it and then moves over into that lane as they go around the roundabout, rather than staying to the far right lane.

A13 Southend bound at Tarpots, where two lanes are marked for ahead and then suddenly one becomes left only. Of course cars cannot use the other lane as traffic is waiting to turn right and so blocking the ahead only lane.

All very poor design by ECC.

Apart from that I will concede that for other users it works well.

You forgot about using the left hand lane only on the A13 when approaching the SF lights for Benfleet. Then having to keep in the inner lanes whilst traversing the roundabout and then keeping inthe right hand lane if you want to proceed to Hadleigh. All this whilst traffic turning off completely blocks your route.
