Canvey OAP warns of distraction raid

DISTRACTION burglars attempted to fool a 77-year-old grandmother on her own doorstep.

The pair pounced on the woman, who asked not to be named, as she returned to her home in Florence Road, Canvey , after she had been shopping.

They claimed they needed to get to the hospital, the woman said Canvey does not have a hospital and pointed them in the direction of the bus stop.

While her back was turned a woman covered the grandmother’s coat with red sauce. She said: “She told me there was something down the front of my coat, when I looked there was all this red stuff and she said it was on the back too.”

As the victim took her coat off the woman dipped into her bag that was across her body.

She added: “I went to put my coat down and noticed my bag was open.

“A couple of cards were on the floor and the woman said they were her’s but one was my library card so I told them to get off my driveway.

“It’s made me feel like a complete utter fool. I’m very wary of coming back home now and I’m terrified to go out, I wouldn’t go out in the evening now."

What idiots. Call themselves big time criminals probably too. Walk into a bank with a gun and perhaps you can then call yourselves big time criminals.
