Runners of all abilities wanted for new club starting at Gunners Park, Shoebury

RUNNERS of all abilities are invited to join a free running club.
Parkrun, a national initiative starting in Southend, will start at Gunners Park, off New Barge Pier Road, Shoebury, from 9am every Saturday.
It starts on Saturday, October 13 and participants can challenge themselves, review weekly runs or just enjoy the weekly 5km route.
Derek Jarvis, Southend councillor responsible for culture and tourism, said: “This free scheme offers a great opportunity for members of the community, to meet up regularly to enjoy this beautiful park and keep fit.
“We want to encourage people to jog or run together irrespective of their ability – this event is truly open to all.
“After the run there will be the chance to socialise with fellow runners at Uncle Tom’s Cabin on Shoebury Common.
“All are welcome – from complete novices keen to start running, to seasoned athletes wanting to use this as a part of their training schedule.
“Meanwhile, every parkrun only happens because of the time and dedication of volunteers, and we would be very pleased to hear from anyone else who would like to volunteer too.”
Anyone wanting to take part should register beforehand by going to www.parkrun.org.uk/southend/home, www.facebook.com/Southendparkrun or emailing southendOffice@parkrun.com.
