Denise misses Grandad's funeral to make her Strictly Come Dancing bow

BASILDON girl Denise Van Outen is missing her Grandfather’s funeral as she prepares to make her Strictly Come Dancing bow tonight.

Strictly favourite Denise tweeted from her Twitter account @denise_vanouten on Friday lunchtime saying: “I'm missing my grandads funeral today because of the show. I will be dancing for him #bit emosh”.

The 38-year-old missed training sessions this week and had to pull out of publicity commitments for the BBC show after Steven Matthews’ death at 89 last week. It is thought that Denise visited her ill grandfather just days before he passed away.

BBC bosses were believed to have told her to take as much time out from the show as she needed but she confirmed she will be taking her place alongside her fellow hopefuls.

Her grandfather’s death is another blow to her preparation after she was floored with a virus a week before her Strictly debut.

Blonde Denise was back to form hours before the performance as she tweeted her excitement on Friday: “On my way to the BBC. So nervous!!!!!!”

Grandparents are just hangers-on.
Don't know anyone that has a good word for them.

Missing a funeral is not the end of the world. Going to someones funeral may be about paying your respects but you can pay your respects at any time. Funerals are used for the support of those who are left. It may be that Ms VO has a family that is quite happy for her to continue with the show and that there will be many others at the funeral that will be able to support one another. At least she was able to see her Grandand in his final days and he would have known that he was loved. That is all that matters.
I see no problem with her decision.

I can see why you call yourself Herbert. Not too sure about the 69 though.

That apart, could someone please explain to me why the article gives the colour of this woman's hair ? Is it relevant ? I should have thought size of feet would have been more in keeping with the subject.

Time for my oats. Maaareeeeey !

I hope you realise that you and the one you quote both say far more about yourselves than any grandparents. Apart, that is, from your own!
