Woman stamped on in savage bar attack

A WOMAN was groped, punched, kicked and stamped on in a savage attack at a busy nightspot.

The victim had been enjoying a night out at Churchills in Tylers Avenue, Southend when she was groped by a man.

Then, without warning, she was punched by the man's girlfriend, causing her to fall from the floor.

As she lay on the groudn she was then kicked and stamped on.

The attack happened at 12.45am on Saturday.

I sometimes wonder whether I am reading the Echo or the Police Gazette. Rather than the Echo splitting up the headings for local news into Southend, Basildon, Leigh etc., how about splitting them into the various categories of crime, burglary, muggings, sex attacks etc, and just having "other stories" for the two non-crime articles we get each week.

I agree there. We only seem to be getting crime and attack stories week after week now. They may as well call this paper crimewatch.

If they didn't report the counties' crimes, how would we know what was happening around us?

What rotten luck eh? Some bloke's girlfriend laid into her after he 'groped' her?? Yeeeeeah riiiight.
I'd imagine that ordinarily if some bloke's bird saw that she'd lay into HIM. (First of course)

Methinks the lady doth protest too much

Churchill will be spinning in his grave if he knew what went on in his club.
We shall fight on the dance floor, We shall fight at the bar, we shall fight in the toilets, we shall fight on the pavements outside..and when the police come RUN.........

Either way, people need to be informed. The deterrent's are insignificant, people do as they please, they can't hold their liquor and attack people like wild animals. Make a real example of some of these offenders and hopefully things may improve ? Before you respond, I know it ain't going to happen.

It was the place where a guy died while being restrained/ejected by the door staff after he exhibited behaviour which was likely to endanger other customers, however all of the door staff in question were found not guilty.

Firstly, how can you fall 'from' the floor? Don't you tend to fall to the floor? (In the story obviously, not the quote above!)

The Echo is a yellow paper - it looks for stories that are only going to cause sensational headlines that will make the public want to read.

A good local paper would balance the crime - which does happen - with the good news local stories, such as fundraising activities, school open days, lots of other things.

The Echo however, forgets certain events, or publicises them too late (Basildon Carnival this year for example). It skimms over the good news, and instead directs most of its resources to the crime writing, the fires, the attacks.

Yes we need to know this stuff happens, for witness appeals etc. But anyone who wanted to move to the area and read the Echo would be put off!

sounds like a normal night out in Southend from what we read in The Echo on a regular basis. All that is missing is a phone theft and the possession of a bag of weed and we'd have the jackpot

PC Danny Barnes says blahblahblah someone once smoked a spliff and thought about going to mayhem so raid and shut it .... meanwhile at churchills its business as usual.

Sounds to me like a normal night out these days.

Oh how we have evolved recently, soon we will be acting like savages covering ourselves in war paint and wearing body piercing rings to become more noticeable to other tribes.

Ps I hope the aggrieved recovers okay as this type of savagery behaviour can have serious effects on the mind for years.

Yep..but for some strange reason the police would rather spend all their time and resources raiding bars and clubs to find tiny traces of drugs then instantly demand they be shut down.

Heres an idea Mr Policeman, I personally dont care whether someone snorts a few lines or takes some pills, BUT I do care about violent thugs (sometimes working as bouncers) in the bars I go to.
