Missing dog Willow returns home wounded
2:21pm Monday 8th October 2012 in News By Gina Marden
Missing pet may have been used in dog fighting
A PET, missing from her home for three months’, may have been used as bait to train savage fighting dogs.
Beloved family pet Willow - a terrier cross - turned up after a homeowner found the terrified dog dumped in a garden in Church Road, Basildon.
She was covered in nasty wounds and cuts.
Willow went missing from the garden of her owners' home in Hinckfield Place, Basildon in June.

This dog "may" have been through a lot of things. It "may" have been used as a bait dog (although I doubt it) but it "may" have been attacked by another stray dog or it "may" have been run over by a car or it "may" have been abused by another human or it "may"... and so it goes on.
Leave the sansationalism to the big boy press because your efforts as a local rag are laughable and, quite frankly, embarassing.

The Echo really do take the biscuit. The use of the word "may" is no defence against shoddy reporting.

Sorry but if the dog had been used as a bait dog it would be dead not wounded

I dont think dear old gina marden understands the gravity of dog fighting, if you seriously think a dog can be used as "bait" for 3 months and just have a few "wounds & cuts" you need to take a long look at yourself in the mirror and ask "is reporting really for me? Would i not be better equipped to deal with the hectic task of stacking supermarket shelves? Or cooking dinner in preperation for the daily return home of somebody who does a real job?"
You're a brave man Spaffy !

More of the usual sick uncaring stupidity from idiot Southenders. I hope the dog recovers, and those responsible for whatever abuse that dog suffered are arrested. As for the idiots who wrote above, get a brain cell.

My good god what the hell is wrong with you people? The way you attack the echo and the lady who writes this is disgusting. At least she has a job and isnt claiming benefits. My grammar & english isnt the best I must admit does that make me a bad person? I suppose I will get spoken to badly now and abused but I wouldnt expect anything less from you keyboard warriors who attack anyone who comments on here daily & the people who write the stories, shame on you all. Going back to the story I hope the dog gets over whatever happened to it the poor thing, and just for the record I work with animal rescue & many dogs do survive from being used as bait but I do agree this type of dog would not have been used as bait.
Nice to hear of your work with Animal Rescue anyway , Mrs. Marsden.

All this nastiness must be upsetting for Willow's family who are probably just trying to do their bit for dog welfare and warning that this sort of thing happens, as many of us do.

It is you who is missing the point, not to mention a few other things I would not wonder.
This story has been over sensationalised and is badly written, given that it is by someone whose job is to report factually and with the correct use of both spelling and grammar, it is perfectly acceptable if people wish to comment if they do not feel that those standards have been met.
In your reply to me, you used the term "you guys" so I reasonably concluded you meant me.......
I would have a little read back over your posts before you comment further, you may be enlightened as to who is lacking in the brain cell department, irony seems to be passing you by too.....

Whether I am qualified to give English lessons or not, I would expect a certain level from someone who is paid to write, although it is the style of writing not her writing per se, that I think is inappropriate,
This is a public forum where people are going to have a myriad of opinions, quite often ones that you will not like; as you, evidenced by your posts, get so cross then abusive, it may be a good idea to stick to your word and not waste anymore time on here.

Secondly not everyone takes the echo forum as seriously as some of you Guy's some people do have lives you know, maybe you should all try stepping away from you're keyboards and doing something positive rather than sitting behind the screen being nasty to a journalist who you have never met or know anything about.

Missy, it is actually spelt "you're", not your.
My comments about the journalist are not personal, they are about her ability as a journalist-and I think this article is of a pretty poor standard.
She "may" of course be a perfectly lovely woman;-)
As for taking this forum seriously, really?
Big black pot small shiny kettle, methinks........
