Hundreds attend meeting over travellersin Thundersley

HUNDREDS of residents packed-out a council meeting to voice their concerns after travellers moved onto fields in Thundersley.
Five caravans moved onto Janda Field, off Fane Road, over the August bank holiday weekend, sparking fears the area could see its own version of Dale Farm.
The travellers have submitted plans for a three-pitch caravan site. However, residents are concerned it could be the tip of the iceberg, after neighbouring green belt land went up for sale, prompting concerns the site could expand.
Last night residents filled the Castle Point Council chamber, in Kiln Road, Thundersley, to quiz local councillors on why the authority has yet to take action.
Residents had to queue to get a seat after the word was spread about the meeting on Facebook and through leaflets posted to surrounding houses.
