A TORY councillor, reported to a watchdog for accusing officers of failings in data protection, has been cleared.
John Dornan, councillor for Laindon Park was reported to the Standards Board for England by chief executive Bala Mahendran after he accused two senior officers responsible for data protection of failing to understand relevant legislation.
The complaint alleged his tone of questioning had bullied the officers, but the standards board has written saying there was no case to answer.
Mr Dornan said: "I have been vindicated. The standards board said I was doing what I should as a councillor."
For a change I agree with a Councillor he has questioned highly paid council employees seemingly not doing the job they are paid for.
Bala Mahendran should also earn some of his fat excessive pay packet making sure that he and all council staff paid out of our hard earned council tax money are accountable and do their jobs. The Council has a customer contact charter that is ignored by staff (including Mahendran) and if a complaint is made they suddenly answer the question (after a tip off I suggest) and say there is no failing.
Put your own house in order Mr Mahendran.
