TWO stage professionals have combined forces to start a new theatre school.

Stage Door pools the skills, talent and experience of Nova Hughes, a West End performer who has appeared in Les Miserables among other shows, and drama teacher Nicola Woolgrove.

Nova said: "We've been friends for 18 years. We're both from Essex, although we trained outside the county. We wanted to bring something to Essex that offered young people an opportunity to train as actors and singers."

Nicola explained: "Our class is aimed at youngsters who love to act and sing and we focus on nurturing talent and confidence building.

"Acting is a craft and we teach it that way, introducing our students to a range of techniques, styles, improvisation, physical theatre, singing, movement, script and audition preparation.

"Even if they're not looking to develop a career in theatre and TV, classes like this are a lot of fun and a good place to make new friends."

Initial sessions are being held at St Barnabas Jubilee Church hall in Hadleigh. Nova and Nicola hope to extend to other areas shortly.
