A man pretended his dog had got into an elderly woman's garden to steal money from her.

Around 6pm on December 31, a man approached the home of a woman in her 80s in Victoria Avenue, Wickford, and said his dog had got into her garden.

The suspect went into the house and stole a small amount of cash from the victim's purse and left.

Essex Police have now released an efit of the man they would like to speak to regarding the incident.

The man was described by the victim as being around 5ft 10ins tall, of a stocky build and in his mid-30s.
