A man has been arrested in connection with robberies on Canvey.

The first incident took place on January 6 when a man in his 80s was pushed to the ground and robbed in Andyk Road.

The second incident took place on January 9.

Two women in their 70s both had their handbags stolen in Creek Road at around 11.55pm.

One of the women was pushed to the ground.

A 26 year-old man from Canvey was arrested yesterday on suspicion of robbery.

Sergeant Mark McQuade said: “This arrest was made possible due to the tenacity and good work demonstrated by the areas Community Policing Team.
