A man has been banned from driving for two years after committing nine driving offences over the course of six weeks.

Tambwe Malambe, 49, of Blenheim Chase, Leigh, failed to identify a driver after a vehicle was captured speeding nine times on the A127 last year.

These offences happened four times on August 24, one on August 29, and four times on October 4 2017.

After being written to by Essex Police Malambe failed to identify who the driver was that in the vehicle during each offence.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on January 19.

Malambe pleaded guilty to nine charges of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver when required and was disqualified from driving for 24 months and fined £150.

Following the hearing, Investigating Officer Roy Keyes said: “Malambe was written to following each of the speeding offences, but failed to respond to our correspondence.

“We continue to see a lot of people ignoring notices sent by the police in the hope they will go away.

"They will not.

"Speed limits are in place for a reason, which is to keep drivers and other road users safe.

“We assess all driving offences to decide the most appropriate course of action, which can range from completing an education course, issuing a fixed penalty or taking the matter to court.”
