A WOMAN was rushed to hospital needing serious treatment in hospital for leg injuries after she was hit by a car.

Police and paramedics rushed to Leinster Road, Laindon, to reports of a collision involving a , a 59-year-old woman pedestrian and a Ford C-Max.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with leg injuries.

The driver, a 46-year-old man from Basildon was reported to Essex Police for careless driving.

The area was cordoned off by police just after 6.15pm last Thursday.

Family of the woman involved took to social media to reassure the public she was fine after many members of the public rushed to the scene to offer help to her.

After the crash happened, members of the public flocked to help keep the woman comfortable after she had been hit in the incident.

Several held umbrellas over the injured woman to shield her from the rain.

Her son posted to Facebook to offer his gratitude and update people on his mum’s condition.

He said: “Me and my family would like to extend thanks to everybody that stopped and helped my mum tonight.

“She’s a very proud lady that wouldn’t ask for help.

“In a time of need, people offered it with out hesitation.”

The woman was taken to Basildon Hospital for further care.

The injuries she had sustained from the crash were not believed to be life threatening.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “A 59-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life changing or life threatening.

“A 46-year-old man from Basildon was reported for careless driving.”

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We were called at 6.16pm on Thursday to Leinster Road to a report of a collision between a pedestrian and car.

“An ambulance crew attended to a woman who had suffered leg injuries. She was taken to Basildon Hospital for further care.

“Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or serious.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash in Leinster Road is asked to call Basildon police station on 101.
