A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving in Basildon.

Essex Police officers stopped vehicles in Great Oaks where they arrested a woman, 35, from Basildon.

She was taken to custody and released under investigation.

The arrest was made as part of an operation where officers carried out stops of drivers in the area.

The operation was carried out along the road outside of Basildon police station in the town centre.

During the operation, officers reported a disqualified driver, found 58 people not wearing a seatbelt and recorded 195 drivers driving over the 30mph speed limit.

They also found 12 people using a mobile phone while driving, four had no MOT, two had no licence and four had no insurance.

Four vehicles were seized during the operation for various offences.
