Police arrested a man at gun point after stopping him at a roundabout in Pitsea.

Police stopped the driver of white Mercedes car at a roundabout in High Road, ordering him to get out of the vehicle.

Video footage of the incident shows an officer aiming a gun at the suspect, while he walks towards the officer with his hands up.

As he comes into reach, another officer comes towards the man and handcuffs him.

The man, who appeared to be in his mid-twenties, was wearing a black top, trousers, hat and shoes

He was arrested at around 1pm today.

It is believed that the man was carried a firearm in his vehicle, and had been followed by police before being stopped in High Road.

Speaking about the incident, a man who witnessed it, said: "The police pulled along side the white Mercedes and aimed before getting out their police car.

"The police while aiming told the driver of the white Mercedes to throw out an unidentified weapon from his window, he did.

"The police then got out of their car while still maintaining aim, they then put handcuffs on him and more police cars turned up.

"There was a police helicopter there flying overhead as well.

"The weapon he threw out his window was on the floor between the two cars."

The Echo has contacted Essex Police for comment, following this incident.

They have since confirmed that the incident is connected to the three arrests made in St Johns Crescent, Canvey earlier this afternoon.
