Plain clothes officers chased a man wanted for serious offences through a supermarket and across marshes - before nabbing him.
On Wednesday, officers spotted the wanted man in Morrisons.
They chased the 23-year-old man through the store, before being detained wet, muddy and covered in scratches from brambles (as were a couple of the officers) by officers from the Community Policing Team.
He was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and possession with intent to supply class A drugs and taken to Southend Custody.
Sgt Jarvis from the Community Policing Team would like to thank those members of the public who assisted when the suspect went to ground for a short period as well as apologise to anyone within the store who witnessed the foot chase and wondered what was going on!
