A WORKER suffered serious burns following a fire in a Southend factory this morning.
According to sources at Ecomold in Priory Crescent he allegedly suffered burns to his face, arm and body.
He was taken by firstaiders to Southend Hospital and was later taken to Broomfield Hospital for specialist treatment.
The fire was reported shortly after 6am and extinguished by 6.55am. It started in a compressor inside the factory unit on the Prittlebrook Industrial Estate.
Three crews from Southend and one from Leigh extinguished the fire at the former Linpac Automotives premises, by 6.55am.
Mick Faber, manufacturing manager at the company, said: "A heater overheated and the plastic moulding inside caught fire, it was similar to the fire we had last year and this sort of fire is not unusual in this industry."

How can Mick Faber play down this incident when an employee has had to go to Broomfield hospital with burns to the face and hands...which will require plastic surgery???
