Sometimes I wonder if Trevor Murdin simply writes to wind us all up with his ignorance (Letters, July 29) .

His so-called theory on why we have urban foxes is ludicrous. Foxes were beginning to inhabit urban areas a long time before the ban on hunting them came into being.

The prime reason they have joined our society is because of the degradation of their own habitat in rural areas. That, coupled with the fact they have been persecuted for years, forced them to seek another way of life.

Does Mr Murdin think a fox prefers the struggle of living like a tramp, feeding off our scraps and looking for den locations among our back alleys and garbage as opposed to its rural habitat?

Think out of your box, Mr Murdin, and think about the fox!
