I refer to the article “Spotlight on care homes”

(Aug 17).

Apparently Castle Point Council’s cabinet will meet to talk about commissioning research into the trend.

Hallelujah!

Is it possible it can be so out of touch with the people on this subject? Is it possible it cannot accept that the people who carry the burden of getting this country out of the state it’s in, who are already paying in higher prices and taxation plus loss of employment, are entitled to a few hours peace and quiet when they are in their own homes?

Is it possible it does not know what a life-changing experience it is to live next door to one of these establishments?

Does it care?

There is no need to spend our money on commissioning research.

Do what you do at election time when you are full of promise. Get out there and ask people what they think. Start at Maurice Road and Thorney Bay Road, Canvey, a rich vein for research.

But no. When the results are in, we’ll find that not only are we not against care homes, but we’d all like one.

Such are the con artist politics of today.
