So the digital TV switchover promises more channels and better quality pictures (Aug 19). From my experience it is anything but an improvement.
At first we had a set top box which could only get a signal half the time. So we were advised to get a new “digital” aerial, plus an amplifier and a new cable too, at a cost of some £380.
After all that expense, the picture is no better.
Strange, considering Rayleigh is 200ft above sea level. We were told the Dartford Bridge interferes with the signal from Crystal Palace. Funny how it’s didn’t affect the analogue signal.
Now we know why. The transmitters are running at reduced power! Perhaps they should have been uprated first before making us pay for new aerials.
All this expense just to get yet more channels of cheap reality TV and endless repeats. Digital TV, do we really need it?
