In response to Steve Horgan (Aug 19). Of the 55.42 acres listed on Basildon Council sites for sale schedule to fund the sporting village the breakdown is as follows: Basildon 23.75 acres, Laindon 20.87, Vange 6, Pitsea 2.80, Billericay 0.70, Wickford 0.30 with one acre unidentified. The Billericay site he refers to was the 0.70 acre in Rosebay Avenue, the area’s sole contribution representing 0.0126 per cent of the total land for sale.

Pat Rackley’s claim that funding for the sporting village is from the sale of land in the Basildon area is therefore not so outrageous.

Perhaps it is Mr Horgan who should be reading his council’s paperwork.
