Lorries add to road damage

8:56pm Saturday 4th September 2010

An Essex County Council representative told us there was nothing the authority could do about heavy goods vehicles, which I think is disgusting, Our roads are already damaged, and these lorries are adding to it.

He did say he would get the drains cleaned out along Canvey Road and Long Road. We saw them using a plumber’s worm to clean the drains, but I think they gave up as they only did one.

I think they gave up because the drains have collapsed.

When a water main burst opposite Charfleets, the drains overflowed and water ran towards the roundabout near Morrisons and blew the electrics in properties.

We get the same thing.

When the drains fill up, water floods the road and the path, opposite the King Canute pub.

The drains in Long Road have grass growing out of them. If we ever have a serious flood, our £750,000 pumping station will not be able to cope.

Councillor Ray Howard is right, we should name and shame over what is happening on Canvey.
