Having read Steve Askham’s letter (Feb 2), I feel sure he has not fallen foul of the recent miscreant activity some bankers have bestowed upon the public.
Reading how loans and mortgages have been missold is no laughing matter. I have fallen foul of both, having bought missold payment protection insurance and acquiring a missold mortgage, the latter a blatant act of mortgage fraud, the more accurate term for a missold mortgage.
I’m not sure how the broker who acted on my behalf justified charging £2,000 for his services , or should I say misrepresentation, but it is outrageous that the public, including myself, has been exploited and abused by the professional banking sector.
Let’s not forget that of all those who have made claims for compensation, there are many more who may never be aware of these deceptive practices, or if they are, have no intention of pursing matters, seeing it all as a lost cause.
I am by no means envious of the payout RBS boss Stephen Hester refused, but looking at my own plight, further down from the top of the chain of command in banking, excessive charges for poor, if not negligent, services seem to be the order of the day.
