John Lamb’s comment that “housing would not be my choice” for development of the Aviva site at Prittle Brook industrial estate is typical of the woolly thinking of our councillors.
The mandarins in Whitehall have decreed we need more housing in the south-east, hence the pressure to concrete over prime farmland such as Coombes Farm, and alongside Hall Road, Rochford.
Both these developments are bitterly opposed by virtually all the local residents.
Mr Lamb should drive around any industrial site where a rash of estate agents’ “For Sale” and “To Let” signs will show him there are more than enough empty business premises to satisfy the needs of the community.
This site is crying out for housing development, which will satisfy the Government and preserve our diminishing stocks of precious green belt.
