Museum plan is expensive excuse for business centre (From Echo)

• "Once again SBC have an opportunity to develop the town and once again; they are going to fail. Any visitor driving along the 'gateway' to southend has to drive through the late 60's/early 70's leftovers that the then Council built because of their lack of vision, derelict buildings left standing as empty nesting sites for birds, rats and drug addicts. Instead of spending money ruining a beautiful part of the town, why don't they spend the money giving that eyesore the facelift it deserves. Probably because they're waiting until we are so sick of it that we won't mind them turning it into cheap council housing for all the families on benefits who will flock to the town, lovely. Disgraceful."
