Electrical blaze hits bungalow
AN electrical fault caused a bungalow fire in Leigh.
A passer-by spotted smoke coming from the roof of the property in Eastwood Old Road at 10.30am yesterday.
The woman living in the house got out safely before two crews from Hadleigh and one from Leigh arrived.
Leading firefighter Phil Owens, from Hadleigh fire station, said: "We believe it was started by an electrical fault in the roofspace. It was a smouldering fire.
"Leigh were first to arrive and did really well to bring it under control quickly.
"It could have been a lot worse. We sent in four firefighters, two of them to salvage some valuables.
"The roof was partly destroyed when it collapsed, but the downstairs was OK apart from some water damage and smoke damage."
The fire was out by 11.05am.
