HUSBAND and wife team Peter and Mavis Webster will be two of the six new "super councillors" to sit on Rochford District Council's new executive.

The set-up of the board, which will control policy in place of the old committee system, will be agreed formally at the annual council meeting tomorrow.

However, sources have revealed Mr and Mrs Webster will be the two members from Rayleigh on the board.

For the past two years, they have succeeded each other as chairman of the council and Mrs Webster will take up her new duties as soon as her term of office comes to an end tomorrow.

Also on the executive board will be the council leader, Terry Cutmore, from Ashingdon ward, and deputy leader Keith Hudson, from Hockley.

The remaining two seats will be made up by Keith Gordon, from Rochford, and Michael Starke, from Hawkwell.

The meeting of the council will also see the election of the chairmen of the three new area committees.

The committees will be for Rayleigh and Rawreth; Hockley, Hawkwell and Hullbridge; and Rochford and surrounding villages.
