A TEENAGER who has been missing for a year may be living in the Tilbury area, police say.

More than a year has passed since 16-year-old Wayne Yates went missing from his home in Canning Town, London.

To mark International Missing Children's Day last Sunday, police have launched a fresh appeal to find him.

Wayne is 5ft 11ins tall, slim, with red hair and hazel eyes. He failed to return home after leaving school on March 13 last year.

He is the eighth child to be featured in a national poster campaign run by the Police National Missing Persons Bureau and children's charity, Pact.

Since the campaign's UK launch in October 2006, three of the children who have appeared on campaign posters have been found.

The Metropolitan Police says it is keen to find out if Wayne is safe and well.

It stresses the lad is not in any trouble and will be offered support to help him if he is found.

If you have any information about Wayne's whereabouts, call the Police National Missing Persons Bureau, on 0808 100 8777, or the Runaway Helpline on 0808 8007070
