A TEENAGER from Canvey was tragically killed alongside two of his friends in a horrific car crash which has left another boy with serious injuries.

Ashley Jones, 19, died instantly with Harry Ferrand, 17, and Jack Boyton, 17, who were both from Enfield, after their blue Corsa ploughed into the back of an articulated Mercedes lorry on the A10 in Hertfordshire.

Social networking sites Facebook and Twitter were flooded with tributes to the boys who died instantly at 2.15pm on Friday.

Another passenger Liam Bradshaw, 17, from Enfield, was taken to the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, by air ambulance with serious injuries and he is in a critical condition

The driver of the lorry was not injured in the accident and the road between the Turnford and Hoddlesdon junctions was closed for six hours while police investigated.

An air ambulance and ambulances from three different depos were scrammbled to the scene on the northbound carriageway on the A10.

Gary Sanderson, a spokesman for the ambulance service and who attended the scene said: "First and foremost our thoughts are firmly with all of the families of the men involved in this tragic incident.

"Following a rapid scene assessment by paramedics at the scene, three men were pronounced dead shortly after.

"A fourth man, who was seriously injured, was treated by land and air ambulance crews, before he was flown to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel for further care."

Investigating Officer Sergeant Colin Jenkinson, of the Roads Policing Unit for Hertforshire Police, added: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the victims’ families’ at this difficult time.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for anyone who may have seen the blue Corsa immediately prior to the collision happening to please get in contact.”
