Knife-point robber strikes at Benfleet off licence

A KNIFE-POINT robber struck at a Benfleet off licence.

He went into Arundel Food & Wine Store, in Arundel Road, and threatened staff with a knife.

They demanded money but when staff refused they ran off empty-handed.

It happened at about 9pm on November 7 but an appeal has only just been released by police.

The assailant was wearing a grey hoodie, grey trousers and was carrying a JD sports bag.

Anyone with information in connection with this attempted robbery is urged to contact detectives at Southend police station on 101.

Is there a different time zone in Benfleet Watson? My watch says 15.11! Obviously the ace scoop reporters at the P & G Gazette aren't reading all that ticker tape or emptying the pigeon coops often enough! Disgraceful Mr Plod ....

You had better write to the editor - Mr C Dickens at the address shown, also his crime reporter N.Oddy. At The Pipe and Slippers Gazette, Bleak House, Out of Touch House, Burnt Down Farm Lane, Basildon. They only open their post on Fridays .....
