MORE than 50 new jobs will be created after a new business opened its doors in Basildon.

Infinity Home Solutions opened on Saturday, replacing a derelict patch in Southernhay that had been unused for six months.

The former double glazing company ‘Supreme – O – Glaze’ shut in May after five years in business and the new 1,400sq ft showroom which will display and sell kitchens has taken its place.

Robert Wherton, 28, set up the kitchen showroom several months ago and this is his first business adventure. He used to work for ‘Supreme – O – Glaze’ in his youth but has taken the step into business management. He says it is great to bring more jobs into Basildon and is confident his business will be a success.

Mr Wherton, the marketing director, said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for everyone involved. This will be my first venture in the world of business but I feel positive that it will be well received in Basildon. It is an excellent patch to set up on and bringing jobs to the local community is crucial at this time.”

“The site was becoming derelict so it is important to bring new jobs and business to an area that would otherwise be without. It ticks all the boxes.”

Mr Wherton said Infinity Home Solutions would be leafleting over the next couple of weeks to spread the word after Basildon’s mayor Mo Larkin cut the ribbon on Saturday lunchtime.

Malcolm Buckley, Basildon councillor responsible for regeneration, said: “The council is very pleased to see a new business has the confidence to invest in Basildon. It is a substantial number of new jobs as well especially in light of the recent redundancies in different industries.

“It is also positive to see a new business has recognised that Basildon offers opportunities and the people of the borough are willing to invest in this new business.”

The business will be open seven days a week between 9am-8pm on Monday-Friday and 9am-4pm on Saturdays. Sundays timings are yet to be announced.
