Wife pays tribute to man killed in A127 crash Wife pays tribute to man killed in A127 crash

THE WIFE of a biker killed in a tragic accident on the A127 has paid tribute to him.

Christopher Simpson, 43, of Seaview Drive, Great Wakering, died after his red Suzuki motorcycle and a white lorry struck each other on the eastbound carriageway near the Mayflower Retail Park shortly after 6.30am on Tuesday, December 4.

His wife, Vicki Simpson, said: ""He was the life and soul of our house; always happy, always with a cheeky grin on his face and always charming everyone he met. He loved life."

Mr Simpson leaves behind his 11-year-old daughter Stephanie, his wife’s nine-year-old daughter Chloe and her three grown-up children, Ricky, Andy and Gary.

Mrs Simpson added: "Our family has been ripped to shreds by losing Chris in such a cruel and tragic way. His journey to work in Harlow was something he had done everyday for nearly a year, and he would always phone me to let me know he had got there safely. On Tuesday morning I never got my phone call."

Anyone who can help police with their investigation into the crash contact Essex Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or email them at collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk

A life has been lost, children left without a father, a wife without a husband. What does the colour of the vehicles involved matter?

I also call my wife when I have arrived safely at work on my bike, I never have to when travelling by car. It's a sad state of affairs that bikers are so vulnerable to other road users for whatever reason they may have.
It's a lottery being a 2 wheeler user these days, so many excuses, so many SMIDY's.
I never knew Chris but Vicky you have my best wishes that you and your children can pull through these difficult times.

I ride that road every day at the same time, so it could easily have been me.

My thoughts are with his family, RIP Chris.

I also drove past the site of this accident (on the westbound carriageway) as I headed home from work that morning, I wholeheartedly echo these comments.

Best wishes to you and yours Vicky.

Biker One, I know what a SMIDY is, I always look for a biker, only today a pillion gave me a thumbs up for giving his pilot room. Why do bikers put themselves in that positon though? It was 5:30am, cold and frosty, a busy dual carriageway, I was travelling at 55mph. Why do I have to keep my eye out for a biker?

Thank you for your comments, Chris was a very careful and considerate rider, I had been out with him many times as pillion., he didn't take risks with other vehicles.
Losing Chris has affected us deeply, we are all absolutely devastated. Our hearts have been broken and they can never be fixed.
