Biker injured in road crash

A BIKER has been injured in a road crash in Southend.

A motorbike and a car collided in Manners Way, Southend, at about 3.25pm today.

The biker, a man in his 50s, was conscious and breathing but had suffered leg and neck injuries.

He was lifted on a spinal board ready to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The biker was actually 32 and had swerved to avoid someone crossing the road, who gutlessly did not stay around to find out if he was alive or dead. He also had to wait more than 20 mins for an ambulance! He was cold and in shock by this time. It was very upsetting. What is happening in this counrty? He could have died whilst waiting for the ambulance. Myself and two other women talked to him and kept him calm whilst we waited. We should all write letters to our politicians to protest at the cuts to our vital services.

WendyDay. Unfortunately politicians have deaf ears. Full credit to you and the two others for caring for the injured man.

Look at the other headlines today. To much of the news is about ambulances and waiting times and no beds, this is where the NHS cuts really have effect ! They still have plenty of managers though. A local MP wont lift a finger until its a cut to his own expenses, he is about as much use as a chocolate teapot ! IMOP

Keith. All our local MPs are Conservatives. They will not protest against cuts in the health service because the cuts have been made by a Conservative Chancellor. If cuts are necessary, why not make them more severe in areas other than health, such as culture, and arts, thereby preserving the funding for health ? It is sad to note that nursing staff and hospital beds are not increased to meet demand.,

Once doctors realign their six figure salaries with the rest of our recession hit society the NHS will perhaps have enough money to treat their patients.
