Updated: Air ambulance lands in Rayleigh after two car crash

The air ambulance landed in Rayleigh after two cars crashed.

Shortly before midday today, emergency services were called to Rat Lane off the A127 after the collision. 

The cars collided near to the Wickes store and one elderly woman complained of head pain but didn't need to be taken to hospital.

A bit puzzled a car goes into a van not much mess just a dent in the side of the van & a bit of a big scrape on the passenger front bumper the van drove of shortly after we got there the person from the ford focus was taken into the back of the police car & the traffic cop drove off shortly after followed by the paramedic while there was a old lady left in the passenger seat of the focus & the whole time we was up there all we saw was the police car & a traffic cop car & a paramedic but no sign of the air ambulance unless there was another accident at the same time near by

I was on Nevern road (12:30) when I saw the chopper take off it was at my 12 o'clock I would say perhaps from the Methodist church on the Eastwood road? So maybe separate incidents or that was the nearest spot they could drop. Either that or the pilots sat nav was playing up again!

In the Echo's defense I would say the phrasing 'lands after crash' is fairly self explanatory :) This was posted at 12:03 and I saw the chopper at about 12:30; that's finger on the pulse if you ask me!
