Knifeman threatens post office staff

A ROBBER threatened staff with a knife before making off with cash in a raid on a Post Office.

The attack happened when the man entered the post office on London Road in Rayleigh at  6pm .

He threatened staff with a knife before running off with the three-figure sum of money in an Asda carrier bag. He was last seen heading towards the local railway station.

The man is described as white, is of slim build and has a bulbous nose. He was wearing a mask and was dressed in black.

Anyone with information in connection with this robbery is urged to contact detectives at Rayleigh police station on 101.

Do they not have CCTV in post offices ?

Feel sorry for the staff that have to endure this type of thing as nothing seems to be done to protect them ..

still waiting see this so called crack squad that was going stop all these robbery's they had big write up on here but seen nothing more .
i said they was a waste of time and tax payers money and more like a dope squad than a crack squad.......

These are probably organised gangs coming down from London on the train. It's happened in Hockley and Rayleigh and Wickford to friends of mine that live near the stations this year. The day it happened in Rayleigh 12 houses were targeted. Plod are too busy chasing motorists its the easy option.

The guy that run's this Post Office is such a nice friendly and helpful guy, so sorry this has happened to him.

But Echo - do we need to read about this story on page 2 and a shortened version on page 4 ? Do you have proof readers ??
