ICY temperaments will be required for a charity swim later this year.

Havens Hospices has challenged fundraisers to brave the chilly waters of Southchurch on March 9.

Staff from the charity took to the sea to prove the goose-bumps could be overcome.

Jason Curtis, events fundraiser, said: “Whether you’re an experienced swimmer or just prefer a paddle, this is an exciting challenge for anyone who wants to try something new and invigorating.

“The water will be between four and eight degrees, and you need to be a bit of a warrior to get in as wetsuits are not allowed – but we will let you wear hats, gloves and footwear.

“So, take the plunge with us and you’ll be helping us to keep our promise of making every day count for the people we care for.”

Entry for the dip is £30 which includes tea, coffee and a full English breakfast courtesy of Ocean Beach Bar and Brasserie.

To book, call 01702 220 356 or email jcurtis@havenshospices.org.uk.
