Man's death: Woman released without charge
4:12pm Monday 14th January 2013 in Local News
A WOMAN has been released without charge after a man died of a suspected drugs overdose.
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate carried out extensive enquiries following the death of Tony Collingwood, 40, whose body was found at his home in Kursaal Way on July 31, 2012.
A 39-year-old woman from Southend was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and later released on police bail pending further enquiries. She has now been released without charge.
The police report will be sent to HM Coroner for an inquest to be held in due course.

If a woman overdosed on drugs why would the man be arrested?

Just because you do not understand something it does not mean my "comment makes no sense whatsoever" it means the comment makes no sense to you.
The man / woman could have been arrested for Murder (later to be have the charged reduced, as it common), for supplying the drugs that killed him or numerous other related charges. I dont know enough about the case to comment further.
My thought was that "I couldn't help but think if the sex's were the other way around the man would have been charged" & that "The law is so sexist in many ways" as women guilty of serious charges in general often get more lenient sentences that their male counterparts.
