Commuters delayed by broken down c2c train
9:03am Thursday 17th January 2013 in Local News By Emma Thomas
Commuters were stranded this morning after a train broke down.
Passengers on the c2c line from Shoebury to London were stuck after the 7.03am train broke down near Limehouse.
Engineers were sent in and trains stuck between West Ham and Limehouse were sent back to West Ham so people could get off and use the District Line service.
c2c tickets were accepted on the Greater Anglia service from Southend Victoria to London Liverpool Street.
A spokesman for c2c said: “We apologise to all our customers for the delays this morning, which has been caused by a broken-down train near Limehouse. c2c tickets are available on London Underground, Docklands and Greater Anglia services and some trains are being diverted to Liverpool Street.”

ANY worker chooses their place of work, so up to them how to get there.
I worked on the railway years ago hence my username, but in order for me to gain promotion I sought, I had to DRIVE 60 miles each way to another depot, not use the trains, due to start/finish times. I got held-up on the roads, but didn't blame the county councils concerned, or ANYBODY else.

Oh dear councillor James Courtney was late - at least that delayed him and his mates scrapping another of the towns events that the locals actually want!

Anyway - if you read my posts a bit more carefully I wasn't moaning about the broken down train, I was moaning about the pathetic communication between C2C management and its drivers. He's the poor guy who has to admit that he doesn't know what the hell is going on. The twitter service is excellent but he's not allowed to look at that in case it compromises health and safety.
In terms of my second comment, you would expect a well-funded service like C2C to be able to HEAT it's trains in the winter. Personally I was lucky to be in a carriage that was heated but people tweeting from other parts of my train were freezing their backsides off. One even reported the air conditioning was blowing. We had all this during the cold spell last winter so they have either ignored the issue or don't know how to fix it.
For the record, C2C is by and large a very good train service but when they fail they do spectacularly and it's always communication that lets them down. I found out a few weeks ago that they have to call each driver individually which in 2013 is unbelievable. Maybe on the Isle of Sodor.

It is by far and away a better service than the Liverpoo St line, cheaper, cleaner and dare I say less threatening (own experience) I use this service 48 weeks out of the year and for 96% of the time I have no complaints, indeed 3% of the time I have no complaints and i'm sure that the final 1% is me having a bad day.
I pay the full £3276 a year and think that it is value for money - in the respect of the other line costing more and train travel prices generally being ridiculously high in comparison to our european counter parts!
